I picked up my first barbell when I was 15 and I have been hooked on fitness ever since. My strength training was centered on whatever body building routine I could find. These routines assisted me as I played football and was a state competitor in the shot put in high school. My passion for fitness continued as I pursued a degree in Exercise Leadership at James Madison University. During my tenure at JMU I served with the Strength and Conditioning Coaches and assisted in training the volleyball, soccer, and tennis teams, as well as the track & field athletes. Upon graduation I served as an Exercise Specialist/Personal Trainer for several years and then I served as the Athletic/Aquatic coordinator at the local Parks and Rec until I became the owner of CrossFit Anazao in the fall of 2018.  I have run 5ks, 10ks and endured the Tough Mudder and Spartan races. In 2014 I started CrossFit and instantly became passionate with the full body, functional fitness that CrossFit encompasses. The constant variety in workouts, comradery with my peers, and having coaches with equal passions, has renewed my love of exercise.

I have been passionate about physical fitness since I was young.  I started playing sports in elementary school and continued through college.  I majored in Health and Exercise Science at Bridgewater College, where I strengthened my passion for living a healthy and active lifestyle.  For years my exercise routine included a weight room, strength machines, and cardio equipment.  I was in decent shape but exercise was not as fun as it used to be and I became complacent with my training.  I decided to try CrossFit in April of 2018 and was immediately hooked.  After a couple of months of training at CrossFit Anazao, I realized I wanted to be more involved in our community.  I chose to become a certified CFL1 trainer so I could help others reach their goals.  Regardless if this is your 1st CrossFit experience or you are a seasoned athlete, you will feel right at home at CrossFit Anazao.

I have always loved being active and am very passionate about health and fitness. I started playing competitive sports when I was 8 and continued through college. I played soccer for 13 years along with several years of basketball and volleyball. I studied Exercise Science in college and spent a few years as a personal trainer after graduating. At this time, I also realized I had to become my own coach, as I no longer had a coach and team keeping me accountable. However, this is easier said than done and my results were limited, making it difficult to stay motivated. I began CrossFit in October 2014 and it was exactly what I needed. The community of people made it feel like being on a team, and having coaches to constantly push me to be better has helped me to get faster and greater results than I ever did on my own. Plus I fell in love with Olympic weightlifting and the functional aspect of CrossFit. It has made my day job as a massage therapist much more manageable, and I no longer experience the neck and back pain that I was having prior to CrossFit. I decided I wanted to help others do the same and achieve their health and fitness goals, so I attended a CrossFit Level 1 trainers course in August 2015. Helping others along with reaching my own goals continues to fuel my passion for fitness.

I have always been passionate about health and wellness. Throughout my childhood I played basketball and softball. My love of sports carried over into college where I played (and still play) recreation league softball, kickball, and dodgeball. Although I was always active, I needed something to supplement my involvement in rec league sports. I participated in my first CrossFit class in May of 2013, and I have been hooked ever since! I fell in love with the community, the Hero WODs, the fundraisers, the feeling of accomplishment (and pain...) after the most grueling workouts, the varied programming, the stress relief, the encouragement and support from the coaches, and the positive effects that CrossFit has had on my own personal health and wellness. As a coach, my goal is to help others find their passion for health and wellness, while encouraging them to achieve their goals and become better versions of themselves. My promise to all the athletes is to provide unconditional support and encouragement, while also continuing my education as a coach in order to better myself and provide the best possible coaching that I can.

CrossFit Coach/Director of Maintenance

My initial introduction to CrossFit was in August of 2014. I didn’t have an athletic background when I started, but discovered a new found excitement for fitness. My exposure to the constantly varied workouts, Olympic weightlifting, and a supportive community inspired my desire to push myself to be better. After nine short months of CrossFit training I decided to take the CrossFit Level 1 trainers course in order to increase my knowledge base and to assist others in reaching their own fitness goals. Watching people increase in strength, advance technique, and improve their quality of life continues to fuel my passion for CrossFit and the benefits it has on all aspects of one’s life.

Growing up in Germany, there were not a lot of options for physical fitness.  Especially when you travel on the road with the circus.  However my fascination with weightlifting started at an early age.  Night after night, I watched German strongman Heinz Hermann hold the large crowds in the palm of his hand while he completed his "Feats of Strength".  It was then that I realized I wanted to change lives through physical fitness...and have an awesome mustache.  After moving to the US in 2002, my love for fitness and healthy living continued to flourish and so did my new career.  After watching Kindergarten Cop, I was determined to become a police officer.  I am now employed by a local department and I live to clean up the streets in our community.  Besides CrossFit and cracking down on crime, I enjoy hiking with my cat in the mountains as well as spending time with my family. My passion in life is seeing people succeed in meeting their fitness goals!
